Why surfaces go black in south-east Queensland
Our humid summers and frequent rain create perfect conditions for mould, lichen and algae on concrete and pavers. Shaded paths, areas under trees and surfaces on the south side of buildings get it worst, because they stay damp longer after rain. Left alone, the growth becomes slippery and slowly stains the surface.
The best time for pressure washing is usually late winter and spring, after the cooler, drier months and before storm season, or in autumn once the worst of the wet season is over. Surfaces cleaned just before a long wet spell can start to regrow within months, so a mould treatment after washing is worth it in shaded areas.
Stormwater drains in Moreton Bay and Brisbane flow straight into creeks, the Pine rivers and Moreton Bay itself. Only clean water should go into drains, so we avoid washing soil, leaf litter and cleaning products into the gutter.

How often should I pressure wash my driveway?
Most driveways and paths look good for one to two years after cleaning. Shaded areas and pool surrounds may need a clean every year.
Will pressure washing damage my pavers or concrete?
Not when it's done properly. We adjust pressure for the surface and use surface cleaners on flat areas. Old or soft pavers, sandstone and damaged concrete get a gentler clean.
Do you wash house walls and roofs?

Should I seal my driveway after cleaning?
